My STB is a Scientific Atlanta 8300HD (w/DVR) and my TV is a Pioneer PDP-5080HD. Time Warner supplied a SA UR5U-8700L remote.
The SA remote does everything I need, except:
- it has no control for the aspect ratio of my TV
- it does have a Source button to change my TV's input, but the problem is I have to cycle through all the inputs (i.e. to change from input 4 to input 1, I have to cycle through 5, 6, 7, etc. until I get back to 1).
My ideal remote would have a complete channel guide and DVR layout, as close as possible to the UR5U-8700L layout, plus programmable buttons to control my TV's aspect ratio, and also buttons to jump from one TV input to another, skipping unused inputs.
I believe my current remote's layout is common- the Guide and program Info buttons near the top, followed by Select and 4-way arrows, Page +/-, Day +/-, Favorites, the DVR controls w/ Replay centrally located, then 0-9, and PIP at the bottom.
Any recommendations would be great.
