HI all, I know I can't talk prices, but I can talk about price differences. :)

So, I am pretty much set on a Sony SXRD RPTV. I'm trying to decide between size and model. I'll be sitting around 10 feet from the screen.

50" A3000 - base price
60" A2020 (with stand) = base price +$100
60 A3000 = base price + $388

I currently have a 55" Mits RPTV that has uneven CRT wear (from watching too much SDTV when we first got it). I currently sit around 11-12 feet away.

I was going to put off getting a new TV until we finished building our new house in 3 months. Unfortunately, I started doing research and I want 50"+ and that the SXRD TVs are great price/size ratio as well as having a great picture (my dad has a 60A2020). Given this, I looked around for the sets and really can't find them given that Sony is discontinuing them.

Anyone have any suggestions that they would like to share?

Thanks

If you really want an A3000, buy whatever you can find ASAP. But since it sounds like you can wait, Samsung has announced new models for later in the year (A650 and A750 series) in various sizes. They sound promising. Also, observers are waiting with interest to see what comes of all the promises that Mitsu is making about laser TVs. See the relevant threads on this forum.

I am definitely considering waiting, so maybe I will. I'll have to look at the forums for info on the Mits. and Samsung sets.

I bought the Sony KDS-60A3000 60" RPTV to replace my 8 year old JVC 50" CRT rear projection a couple weeks ago. Great TV, beautiful picture. I'd been thinking about a new big screen HDTV, and my research was pointing me towards the Sony. When I found out Sony is discontinuing RPTVs, I got one right away from CC. Glad I did, my local CC still has them in stock, BB has dropped it completely from their website.

If you want a Sony KDS-60A3000, get one soon!
