Hello All,
Since I cannot find a 12V ATSC receiver converter, I have been forced to purchase a new 12V HD LCD TV for our boat. Then I was thinking how nice it would be to have a 12 Volt HD hard drive recorder (Like our Sony HDD550), but operates on 12V. I can then record shows at home on cable, take the recorder on the boat, and watch previously recorded shows. The boat has an OTA antenna but reception is spotty in most areas.

So far I have been unable to find a HD recorder (with ATSC, QAM tuner) that will operate on 12 Volts. I am sure the RV crowd is looking for the same thing. Using a 12V to 120V inverter is out, I do not have the surplus power (sailboat). There is not enough room on the boat to do a media center computer deal. I saw this nifty box on ebay that did exactly this, but the tuner was for euro channels only.

Anyone have any idea what may fit the bill?

Thanks,
Louie

An inverter may only consume 10% more Watts of power then a 12V receiver would consume.
