I HATE SAMSUNG!!!!
I have a Samsung DVD 1080P7 upscaling DVD player, and the damn thing ate a Blockbuster rental DVD! The power won’t turn on, and none of the buttons on it, or the remote work. I mean…how the heck am I supposed to get the DVD out?
I didn’t buy a warranty on this (I should have, but my wife bought it, and I didn’t feel like going back and getting one). It’s about 3 months old, and I can’t find the @#$@#$ paperwork on it.
Anyway…
I bought a 4665F TV, that I had to exchange because of HDMI issues. Then I bought the Samsung home theater in a box…TWICE…and both times had issues with handshaking. Then I have gone through 4 DVD players from them!!!! @#$@#$@#$!!!
Their stuff, when WORKING, is awesome, but seriously…I am sick and tired of having problems with all this expensive CRAP.

Make sure the power cord is tight. At the player and outlet
Make sure there is power to the outlet
Unplug then replug the player
is there a fuse inside the player?

I'd open the box with a screwdriver.

It might have a small hole like other drives that you can stick a bent paper clip through to manually eject the DVD out that you will see once you have the cover off. If you just bought this cheap player then take it to a Samsung authorized repair firm as it should be under warranty.
BTW the Samsung 1080P7 hangs on changing video output resolutions is IMHO junk, get something else.

Okay...
It's not broken!
My power strip was!
Wierd. The surge protector had 6 outlets, and the TV and Receiver ones were working, but all 4 others were not.
As for this DVD upscaler being ****...whatever...it's the best I've seen (I only tried a panasonic lol). I can't imagine how much better you can get for normal DVD's. I'm not going to pay oppo price when the quality of this is working just fine. It really does feel like HD sometimes.
Thanks for the advice and help!
Glad I tried another power outlet before I went to buy a new one.
I'm still sick of all these problems with all this high end high priced equipment.

Thats how big a PQ difference between the two are. Check out Amazon comments. The Oppo 980H also comes complete with a HDMI cable.

If I could buy an Oppo locally, and see for myself, then I probably would.
But I'm hesitant to buy anything over the net because EVERY piece of home theater equipment I have bought this past year has been defective in some way.
I think I'll just wait until the bluray players come down in price. Although with no HD-DVD competition now...who knows when that will be!

Oppo has the BEST customer service around.
FAst shipping.
You can talk to them on the phone
I have had 3 of their players. , decided to send back 2 of them and it was NO problem at all.
