View Full Version : ACK CC droped My XBR40....
SKYWLKR 02-27-08, 07:19 PM Twice!
I was having my XBR exchanged out today due to a green blob and they lemoning it...
Well the guys showed up to pick it up and install my new KDS55a3000!
As they were taking it off the stand I saw that one of the guys was losing it and he let it down on top of my PVR and my HD-DVD player...
needless to say it crushed the HD-DVD player and dented the PVR along with bending a brace on my stand...
semi apologies come...
I show the guys how to pick it up and they get a dolly and bring it to the foyer...
It wont fit through the door on the dolly so they pick it up again and the same guy commenced to drop it from about 18" , I hear a sickening crunch.
This cracked a floor tile, shards from the plastic XBR case hit my leg and bounce off the wall.
Apologies come....
They get it loaded and end up rolling it over onto it's face fairly hard in the back of the truck, at this point I am about to puke. The green blob was there only on lighter screens and when the sun was in a solar peak...
I had planed on buying the TV back when the next ware house sale went, so much for that...
Then they start to bring my new TV in and is seems a bit small in the box...
Then I saw the 40" and the word LCD...
Whoa there buddy, where is my SXRD perfection???
So now I have a busted stack, a cracked foyer floor, bits of XBR40 to sweep up and no TV which was the last in CC's system any where in the state.
I'm a bit livid..........
any input before I get a bit nasty when the Manager calls?
CHASLX200 02-27-08, 07:39 PM Guess some pics of the damage would be a good start.

SKYWLKR 02-27-08, 08:16 PM Ok I got some pics, and the hddvd and pvr still work with my PJ so I am nt TV less
WJonathan 02-28-08, 08:48 AM Don't get nasty, just have all the evidence prepared. With everything that happened, the manager will undoubtedly bend over backwards to make everything right. He'll see that you not only are due compensation, but could justifiably sue the crap out of them. But don't threaten anything initially, give him the chance to make a generous offer first.
Beerstalker 02-28-08, 10:02 AM I used to work at Cicuit City doing deliveries. I always told them that they needed to make sure to send the right people when you went on some jobs. A couple of times I got stuck with a little 140lb guy trying to help me carry a 250lb+ TV. That never worked out well. IT sounds like something similar has happened to you.
Like WJonathan said, be polite but firm with the manager. Do not make any threats or get defensive about anything right away. If they have a good manager everything should be taken care of very well and you both should end up happy (at least as happy as you can expect).
If he doesn't help you out to your satisfaction, I still would not get upset. Ask for the number for corporate customer service and see what they say. They are the ones that you can start getting more stern with if you aren't happy with what they offer.
I am sorry that this happened to you, best of luck getting everything settled.
SKYWLKR 02-28-08, 12:46 PM Sound like they are going to do an insurance claim...
I hope I can get the HD player replaced today so I can get in on the free 5 HD-DVD deal...
and at least get my TV.
You must have the patience of a saint.
I'd accept no less than replacement of all damaged goods (HD-DVD, PVR, stand, floor tile) in addition to a (significant) refund towards the cost of your new set, and a free contract for the longest, most comprehensive extended warranty they have.
Either that or a really, really big check, so you can purchase your replacement goods from a place that doesn't contract out to simians.
Can we see the pictures? Host from Imageshack if you don't have another place.
SKYWLKR 02-28-08, 02:15 PM I'm a High School teacher so patience I have...
I really just want to be whole again, but I would like to get the 55" upgraded to the 60" and an a30/a35/xa2 as a bonus for my pain both with Extended warrenties.

I wouldn't do that. I'm no lawyer, but posting potential evidence all over the internet just sounds like a bad idea.

But the 40XBR is a 300 lb TV. How can CC expect only 2 men to carry it?
If you ask me the guy who dropped it can sue CC for getting a bad back from the move. CC should have had 3 men on that move or two very large strong types. I think the store want's it damaged and be done with it. why would any store want to deal with a 300 lbs tv that's 5 yrs old has a picture problem and if it was working perfect still only has a resale value of $200 to $400? it's a total loss from the very start of the move. drop that sucker and it's next trip is to the landfill.

Unfortunately I don't believe CC has the ability to order in the A35 or xa2. I think it is too "high end" for CC. But I'm sure they will be happy to get your floor fixed and replace your components. Let us know how it plays out!
kapmart 03-03-08, 02:46 PM i agree to take the patient approach to do it.* the managers in the store aren't gonna have alot of power when it comes to the damage done by delivery.* I can tell you that getting free extended warranties and stuff will have a very slim to none shot of happening.* if they are a good manager i think they will probably hook you up with something but, i wouldnt go in there demanding anything, asking on the other hand will probably get you more than demanded.* i can't see them not empathizing with the situation, but dont blame the store guys for the mess up of a delivery center. thats why there is insurance and the claim will probably hook you up.* also, going into the bigger size might be an option, that is a pretty easy fix depending on what they gave you back for your 40.* personally i'd rather have a new xbr lcd than an sxrd. but thats just my opinion.
Lucky Ducky 03-09-08, 02:27 PM Those xbr40's must be a bear to move! Myself and a strong young helper picked up my slightly smaller 36xbr800 and I swear I don't think we could have handled anything any bigger or heavier.
We had to move it down stairs then outside and down some concrete steps to my truck. I was about to lose it a couple of times but was able to set it down just before dropping it. Then after we finally got it on my tail gate it was too tall to slide upright into the bed because of the truck canopy. Had to flip the TV over and slide it in on its back.

With the help of a very strong neighbor I moved my 36XBR800 down 5 flights of stairs into a mini van. fortunately the Craigslist seller keep the box so we boxed it up like new rolled it down the hallways on my dolly and slide it down the stairs. the grip handles on that TV are a life saver plus it is well balanced and not too front heavy.:D
I've moved my 32XBR55 and it has no place you can get a firm so it was a nightmare to move it.:(

Just a quick question.. It's my first post so b gentle guys. I bought a brand new toshiba 42rv530u from best buy yesterday, and find out my screen is cracked!!! Any idea's what I can do???
aaron.d 03-31-08, 11:14 AM 1) return it.
2) I realize it is your fist post, but unless you are completely unfamiliar with a) the internet and/or b) home theater products and technologies, you really ought to know this post is in the wrong location.
This thread is about a problem totally unrelated to your own, and your TV is an LCD, meaning your topic should not be raised in this forum (CRT).
Good luck with your return.
