I have an MX850. I have had it now for about 3 years. I went to use it this evening and noticed that it would not operate my Panasonic TV via IR? I thought maybe the software on the remote got corrupted somehow, so I tried to re-sync the software with the remote.

When I did this I received an error message on the editor software saying it could not find the remote. I looked at the remote and it was going crazy.....all the text was distorted and not showing the text clearly.

I disconnected the remote from the syn cable and the same thing....it appeared the remote was dead. I pulled the batteries and replaced them. Now the remote runs through it test patterns and shows the following:

TEST
LCD - Good
RAM - Empty
IROUT - Good
IRAMP - Good
Light - Skipped

There is a little man running across the bottom of the LCD and he is just standing there. There is an error 5 message?

What should I do?
I received the remote as a gift for Christmas 3 years ago, and I am pretty sure it did not come from an authorized dealer as there is no sticker inside the battery compartment.

Any ideas?
