Could someone please tell me what the difference is between a DVD/CD Player and a DVD/CD Transport? I know that any disc player contains a transport mechanism, but why the specific distinction between the two? For example, Denon has 2 new blu-ray players:
The "DVD-2500BTCI Blu-ray Disc DVD/CD Digital Player/Transport" for $999 and the "DVD-3800BDCI Blu-ray DVD/CD Player" for $1999. Why is one called a "transport" and one called just a "player"?

It's just a distinction that Denon made since the 2500 "transport" only outputs audio/video digitally via HDMI. In other words, the 2500's back panel merely consists of a single HDMI output for both audio and video. In contrast, the 3800 "player" adds the conventional analog section for audio/video output.
