Folks,
I’ve been attempting to give a new life to a Barco Data 708 (S, I think). Everything appears to work OK. There is some wear on all tubes (even the red ) but it’s even and wide so doesn’t really matter.
It’s got HD 145 lenses but these don’t appear to be colour filtered or corrected (didn’t know they did them in vanilla).
Lido and Iris 3. All together a nice little set.
However… How many fans should it have?
I ask because it appears to be blowing hot air out the front and sucking room temp air in the back. Now I remember my old Data 701 sucking in at the front and blowing out at the back. Did Barco change it or has someone been fiddling? I also notice that there is a fan on rubber mounts in the left hand side, under the blue (front/table) looking at the front, but there is no fan on the right hand side under the red, despite the holes in the chassis for one. Has someone removed a fan in an attempt to quieten it? – If so, I’m amazed it hasn’t blown up by now. After a couple of hours use in a cool room it was starting to get a bit warm.
