Hi,

Historically, I ran only my video through the vp50 and audio direct from whatever component I was using to my NAD Masters Series Pre/Pro. I bought a BD30 Panasonic Blu-Ray player and have it setup via hdmi, carrying both video and audio, to the vp50. From the vp50 I have hdmi to my LCD, but I have the audio running to the Pre/Pro via optical cable from the vp50. I keep getting a message on my lcd screen that says an "incompatible audio signal is being received.....", but as far as I can tell the audio seems to be fine. I truly do not know if this message is coming from the vp50 or the lcd. One thing I can do is to make sure that the hdmi connection I have from the vp50 to the lcd is NOT carrying an audio signal. I checked the vp50 manual but I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to make sure the hdmi out from the vp50 is NOT carrying an audio signal. I want to make sure that the audio is only being routed via optical to the NAD Pre/Pro. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Since I am not getting any responses, I guess I should simplify my question:

How do you make sure that the audio signal is being routed out through the optical out connection while also making sure that the hdmi out is NOT carrying an audio signal to the lcd?

I have a VP30, not a VP50, but I don't think there is any way to do this in the VP itself. Here's a low-tech solution for you, however: for the output, just use an HDMI to DVI cable with a DVI to HDMI converter on the end. Voila! No sound output over HDMI. 8^)

Hothersale, thanks for the suggestion. It helps to know that I am not completely missing some setting to shut off hdmi audio out on the dvdo.
