How many Blu-ray/HD-DVD/DVDs do you have approx?

PS: Why are the poll options so limited? Why can't I ask more than one question in a poll (I wanted at least 3 questions :) and more than 10 options)?

I think I have about 20 HD DVDs but I'll probably have about 40 or 50 by next week, lol! :D

Is that because of discounts in the US (they don't seem to be discounting them much in the UK )?

I have 264 BDs and about 550 SDs. I had 35 HDs but they have all sold on Ebay.

I have at least 150 HD-DVDs (probably at lot more with all the ones I've bought recently), Zero Blu-ray (no future plans for that to change) and around 500 DVDs, give or take.

US and Australia thanks to a poster called Biot. :D I haven't received the Australian ones yes, I'm guessing they'll take a week or 2. I know what you mean about here in the UK and it's really annoying. It's not enough that we're ripped off anyway but they won't even give us sales now that HD DVD has lost?!:mad: By the way, I've got probably over 500 SD DVDs too but the poll would only let me answer the HD DVD question.

It's a multiple choice question (the system should have let you select every one of the 10 options on the list and then press vote (so you could vote for all 10 options at the same time ;)))

It would be much better if this forum would allow more than one question for each poll/thread (with say 3 or 4 questions with up to 10 options each - or maybe fewer maximum options when you have >1 question). It would make it a lot better than trying to fit all 3-4 questions and options in a multiple choice, 10 option question.

I have about 10 hddvd's. I use to have 600+SD dvd's that I bought religiously on release days since sd became available.

I had to sell my sd's during hard times and was really pi$$ed off at the minuscule amount I could get for them. I was so mad at how little value they had I vowed never again to pay for media. Needles to say I got sucked in and broke down and bought a hddvd player and media. Then hddvd goes dead. Lesson re learned.

I'm downloading all the hd movies i can for free and keeping my money. I average about 20-30 a week . Only cost to me is the hd space. I recently got a couple of 1TB hd's for $179 a piece.

Hollywood can lick me.

I have 124 SD-DVDs according to DVD Profiler. Note that I have more actual movies than that, because the Alien Quadrilogy, Jurassic Park Trilogy, etc, count as 1 DVD to DVD Profiler.

No hi-def media; was waiting for the war to end before I got into that. Now I'm waiting for prices to drop...

I have about 150 HD-DVD's

And now, as of yesterday when I bought my Blu-Ray player I have 6 BR movies in hand with another 17 (yes 17) on their way from Amazon.

Apparently when you don't buy any of one format for 1 1/2 years there ends up being some movies/music your interested in.

Thanks to the firesales I'm now almost broke as I've so far ordered 51 HD DVDs, lol! Those 51 HD DVDs have cost me less than the price of the only Blu-Ray player worth getting, the PS3. So can someone remind me again why I should have spent that money on 1 player with no money left for any movies instead of 51 HD movies? ;) :D

Because eventually, you will have a hard time finding a player for a dead format. GIVE IT UP.

You know exactly what I meant. You post here with the tone that your recent HD DVD purchases are a great deal while buying a Blu-ray player would be essentially a waste of money because you'd have no money left for movies. You said it yourself in your previous post that you got a great deal on the movies because of the "firesales", which in essence is because HD DVDs will soon be obselete. And since no one produces HD DVD players anymore, eventually they will be hard to find. Is that clear enough for you?

But I have an HD DVD player already so it doesn't matter if they're hard to find. And of course the movies are a great deal, don't you think it's a great deal to get a movie on HD DVD for £5 or £10 that's the same (or sometimes even better) quality as, but sometimes has even more extras than the Blu-Ray version that costs £10 or £15 more? Also what about movies that aren't even available on Blu-Ray? You're not going to suddenly be able to get every single HD DVD movie on Blu-Ray, I bet some catalogue movies are going to take ages to appear on Blu-Ray if they sold poorly on HD DVD. And if someone has an HD DVD player already and there are loads of movies that they want and have just enough money for them then isn't it better to buy those movies than to buy a Blu-Ray player and not have any money left for movies to watch on it? It's basic logic and common sense, that's all. This thread is about how many movies we have not how many players we have.

Right now HD DVD players aren't hard to find, but what about in 3-5 years from now? It just doesn't make sense, when you see a failing technology, to all of a sudden begin investing your money into it. Don't get me wrong, its your money, do with it as you please. What happens if your player craps out on you and in 3-5 years if you can't buy an HD DVD player anywhere? What good will those discs be then?

Obviously it is a matter of opinion, but IMHO the bd30 is a better player than the ps3.

Hopefully it won't crap out in 3 - 5 years but if it does at some point then theres eBay plus LG have announced that they're going to continue to make combo drives for PC. (And there could be other companies still making them.) Also Microsoft (as I've got the HD DVD add-on) or Toshiba probably would repair it. To be on the safe side I guess I could look out for any add-ons going for completely rock-bottom prices this year, like winning an auction on eBay for one that sort of "slips through the net". (Like auctions that end at 3am that most people miss.)

all you need is, the right software, a $49 xbox addon and a pc and you can backup the discs. you can watch the movies until you die.

they are exactly the same as what you will be paying 2-3x the price for when the same content comes out on bd over the next 2-3 years.

but i am sure you are right and bd will be worth the wait.

I know. I realised there wasn't one after I posted the poll - and it doesn't let you add the option later :(

I also wanted more questions and options in the poll (but this forum only lets you ask 1 question and upto 10 options)

And the last 2 options in the poll didn't really turn out the way I wanted (I wanted to know if the higher average price of discs in the UK meant people from the UK had a lot less discs - eg. if discs cost twice as much on average in the UK than the USA, whether this causes UK people to have half as many discs).

HD DVD 80+ (music can be replayed over and over again -- 10 were free -- planet earth and nature shows for demo material, not so many movies, plus will be harder and harder to rent, most were obtained from Ebay or CraigsList or BOGO's, it's not like I spent $30/disc)

Right now, I have 64 BRDs, 37 HD DVDs and a lot of SD DVDs.

The "fire sales" have not materialized north of the border, so I suspect the HD count will not increase. If it does, it will only be by a couple. I've also virtually stopped buying SD DVDs, so it will be on Blu, or some temporary means, until Blu is possible... Basically, I'll be renting, or looking in the newsgroups for Universal and Paramount movies, until available on Blu-ray.
