What kind of connection are you using? I haven't heard of a snowy picture with digital TV. Perhaps you have bad connections, but that would not explain why it only does it on HD channels.

Which receiver are you using? Is it the latest dish? What TV input with type of wires (connection cable)?

This information should help us help you.

I'd try a new cable. The current one may be ok to pass SD, but it may be bad enough to not pass HD cleanly.

I had a Tivo HD DVR...Direct TV told me I had to purchase their HD DVR. I've had nothing but problems. Screen freezes... I've had service out two times and everything replaced...connections, cable....I just got a new receiver. Same problem....I'm glad to see other people have a problem. What can we do?? Direct TV has a problem and I'm tired of dealing with them. They don't seem to be too concerned. Maybe the FCC should be advised.
Any suggestions!!

I'm leaving DirecTV after 11 years because of this. Going to OTA and cable with a new TivoHD.

I wonder if D* really cares? ...Probably not

All they really care about is beating cable which they do handily if you read the posts here about TimeWarner Navigator, Comcast, etc. You are just part of the churn to them at this point.

Their new HD-DVR's(HR20 and HR-21) have their own thread about issues.
I have an HR21-700 and have issues too often. But until Fios becomes available and they ramp their HD selection up there isn't any better alternative - imo.
