I expect the answer is NO (it does not work)... but has anyone tried to run TSReader: www.coolstf.com/tsreader/ -- on the output of one of the new Digital to Analog Converter Boxes (CECB)?
"TSReader is a transport stream analyzer, decoder, recorder and stream manipulator for MPEG-2 systems."
As I expected, there is no mention of these ATSC converter boxes on the TSReader hardware page: http://www.coolstf.com/tsreader/hardware.html .
I previously could use TSReader Lite by connecting my Samsung HL-S5679W TV's Firewire (IEEE 1394) port to the Firewire port of my WinXP PC. I used the "meidvhs" driver for "Tuner AV/C Device" and VLC. But, this Samsung TV died within 30 days, and Samsung replaced it with my present HL-T5689S that has no Firewire port.
My present PC contains an ATI ALL-IN-WONDER 9600 SERIES (2006 Edition) video card containing an NTSC TV Tuner.
Do the present CECB's output an MPEG-2 Transport Stream (TS) with PSIP data that TSReader is capable of reading? I'm doubtful, but I am the first to admit that I do not thoroughly understand the technical issues my question implies.
