View Full Version : component to vga vs. component to RGB which better? crabbydaddy2 03-02-08, 08:55 PM which one will give me better clarity&hd? i have a sony projector which has both rgb and vga jkruger 03-02-08, 09:30 PM The HDFury is a great way to get 1080i into your projector. It would connect to the 5 RGBHV terminals on the back. You can also put another input board in next to the one you have and add more options. Brooklyn 03-02-08, 10:09 PM Do you mean VGA and component video? If so, VGA will be better. The HD Fury is a great way to input HDMI into the projector. What model is the projector? Shoujiki 03-02-08, 10:54 PM VGA and RGB is practically the same. Just a different connector and sync setup. It depends on if the RGB is RGsB or RGBS or RGBHV...this may determine what your projector can handle. But in a VGA connector, there is a RGBHV signal. kal 03-02-08, 11:02 PM There's a lot of confusing/misleading information here guys! RGBHV is a type if signal. VGA is a type of connector. The two are not related. Yes, often an RGBHV signal is passed over a VGA (DB15) connector, but component (YPbPr) signals are also often sent through a VGA style (DB15) connector. Kal netfish5 03-07-08, 07:44 PM Well that's even more misinformation. VGA which stands for Video Graphics Array is a term coined by IBM and is actually a specific resolution, but it is used generically for analog computer video signals that typically use an RGBHV signal format. The connector is an HD15 that has 3 rows of 5 pins. DB15's were used by Apple and have 2 rows, one of 7 and the other 8. Shoujiki 03-08-08, 05:25 AM ^ Indeed. VGA is actually a graphics standard that relates to the signal and not the connector. The connector is actually called a DB15. This is what happens when you read too much commerical rubbish. VGA = Signal Standard. RGB(HV/S/s) = Signal. DB15 = A connector that often relays VGA or RGB signals. This is exactly why i said, that VGA and RGB is in fact prettey similar ;) |
