View Full Version : Lumagen Vision HDP won't turn on...??

Hi,

I have a Lumagen Vision HDP I am having trouble with.

When I bought it brand new about 3 years ago, the first unit I received would not turn on, right out of the box. I plugged it in, and the led on the front blinked once after a few seconds, then went out, and there was no other response at all...it simply would not turn on or do anything. I could repeat the 'single led blink' by unplugging and re-plugging, but that's it - otherwise completely dead.

I sent it back, and it was replaced with a new unit, which I used for six months with no issues whatsoever.

Then I moved and put everything in climate controlled storage for a couple of years.

I just pulled the Lumagen out of its box, and connected it to the same projector with the same cables I had previously used (RGBHV to a CRT projector). It turned on normally once (maybe two or three times...I was fiddling with projector aim and alignment - not sure), but now it seems to be doing the same thing that the first unit did...it is completely dead, except for a single brief blink, only when I first plug it in. I have no way to know if this is an issue with the remote or the unit, since there are no buttons on the unit itself.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there some sort of 're-set' solution, or do I need to send the unit in for repairs? :-(

Thanks for any feedback or suggestions...

Doug

Try putting new batteries in the remote. It takes more power to operate the IR transmitter than to blink the red LED. The blinking of the red LED on the remote it doesn't guarantee that the IR transmitter is working.

I am having the same problem with my HDP. It appears to be a temperature sensitive component in the IR receiver.
I have it connected to a laptop through the serial connection and can turn it on using hyperterminal(sending a %). Once it warms up the remote works fine.
I would send it in for repair but right now I would rather just leave it on when I'm going to use it rather than suffer another service charge.

Maybe the cold environment up there!

You can set the HDP to automatically turn on when you apply power. Press "Menu, MISC, POWR, AUTO, ON, Ok". This might help in your situation. The HDP is designed to be left powered on if you want to run it this way.
