I would like to know what everyones personal experience is. For all of you who have multiple rows of seating in your theater, do you prefer viewing your movies and TV from the 1st row of seats or the 2nd row?

Just out of curiosity, what are you trying to discern from this poll?

For me, the answer to this question depends upon what I'm watching. I prefer the 2nd row for DVDs, the first for HD content. But there are so many variables here depending upon a person's set-up (what resolution projector, fill factor, screen-door, etc.)

Gremmy - Great question...To be honest, I'm not sure. I am in process of building (framing) my theater room and coming up with my seating layout. The other day I posted in the forum asking about a potential 4-3 layout. I thought it seemed a little off to have less chairs in the 2nd row, but my layout wont allow for 4 seats in row 2. However, with a family of 4, I want a row of 4 seats to acommodate the wife and both kids. I received alot of feedback stating that the 2nd row was in a few opinions, the better viewing row. So...I thought I would at least poll to see what kind of response I would get. I guess it is mostly curiousity at this point since I am pretty much stuck with the row of 3 in the back row.

I do agree that it most likely depends on all of the criteria you mentioned above, but still am curious to the forum members thoughts.

I am definitely a row 2 kind of guy. I don't like people sitting close behind me and having seats in front of me gives me some perspective on the room and screen.
