I have been shopping online and have managed to confuse myself so I thought maybe someone here could help!
I originally was just looking for a good stereo to play music cd's.
Then I thought why not buy a home theater system and have a dvd player too.
Now I am thinking I should get a DVD recorder with a digital tuner since I am going to be needing one anyway, and also buy some good speakers. But I have been told to add speakers I will need to go through a receiver.

I'm confused about what I need, and what would be the most economical way to do it?

I have an older Sony Trinitron tv and use an OTA antenna with inline amp.
I just wanna listen to my music and I figured I should take advantage of digital broadcast so I can get more than 7 channels!

Set top converter, dvd recorder, receiver, home theater in a box....
(I have also considered a new pc with tuner and a 700-1000 ratio lcd as my tv but am concerned about ease of use and picture quality and of course the price tag will be more!)

Any budget friendly (CHEAP) suggestions?

If you want good speakers, you don't want a HTIB, get a good receiver and speaker combo then add in the DVD recorder/tuner.
