HELP ME PLEASE!!!! I have had the receivers replaced, the LNB's replaced, cables replaced and last week a total new dish replaced with D*. I can not get my local HD channels or ch 607 Speed Channel. I have to keep resetting the receiver, then I get all the channels. The problem with this is at night it will not tape the shows I want to watch unless the receiver is reset.
D* just wants to keep sending out service calls and they never really fix the issue and it's another day off work for me. I've had enough! I've been a customer since 1994 and the NFL Sunday Ticket has kept me but I am considering on switching to something else.
HELP!!!! Mike

Do you have an HR21? There are problems with the HR21 and Speed HD due to an issue with Speed's remote Nascar cameras, and also some HR21s have issues with all the 720p channels (including your local Fox and ABC stations). Which locals are you having problems with? Speed and DirecTV are working on fixes for these issues.
What signal strengths do you see on the 103(c) satellite, all transponders, both tuners?
on 103c I see 84 for signal strength. Other I see around 95%. I do get 100% of transponder 22.
It's not just NASCAR shows I have issues with ch607 it's all programs and my local satellite stations unless I rest the receiver. I have a HR20-100S. I have another HR20 for another room I do not have as many issues with but I still have issues but the newer receiver never works.
Does the setting of native and setting to see 720p only make any problems. I turned off 1080i-4080p 480i and all those except for 720p because it takes for ever to switch through channels.
Any explaination why there the picture and voice never sync up a lot on HD stations especially during live sports programs?

There are problems with the HR21 and Speed HD due to an issue with Speed's remote Nascar cameras, and also some HR21s have issues with all the 720p channels (including your local Fox and ABC stations).
Can you go into any more detail on the problems with SPEED? I've been having an issue where certain channels "freeze" every now and then. The video will instantly lock up while the audio keeps playing. It does this on several channels, including FOX and ABC oddly enough. Speed HD, Fuel HD, & FX HD as well are few others I can remember. Are all of these 720p? Also, I have my HR21 set to 720p Pillar Box. Maybe I should try 1080i? The only way to fix this problem is reset the box. It affects any recorded programming on these boxes as well. I can rewind and fastforward and see the picture but as soon as it stops it freezes while the audio continues.
I would suggest enabling 480p,720p and 1080i, trying that, and putting up with the slow change. If that doesn't work I would try to find an HR20 or borrowing one from a friend (if possible) to test it. I just haven't seen your problem with the HR 20 but am not completely familiar with the HR21.
I'm a new D* customer and I'm also seeing the 771 issue with my HR21-700. I don't think there's anything wrong with my setup since when it does work, it works well and the signals on both tuners are in the '90s on up.
But at night it seems one of the tuners will not tune properly and that's when the 771 issue will start. A reset would often fix it (or sometimes even simply tuning to a SD channel before tuning to a HD channel will work). But that doesn't help if I'm not home, the DVR is set to record something and this 771 issue pops up.
I've read up about this issue on here and dbstalk and it seems that D* just sends techs out to replace LNB's, BBC's, dishes, etc. and the issue keeps coming back (mostly at night time and not during the day when the tech is there).
Sorry I can't add anything to cure the issue but hopefully I'm one more voice for D* to start looking into it further than just dish alignment, bad BBC's, etc.

Got any Diplexers in the line? I had these in my line when D* did my setup and started getting the 771 message. I took the inside diplexer out and half the channels came in, the other half came in when I took the one outside out. Just a thought.
the lead tech for Tampa DirecTv just left my house and right now everything is working...but like others have mentioned the 771 searching for Sat at night is the main problem. I will test the system tonight and let you all know.
I had a diplexer in my home theater room on an old HR10-250 and we took that out of the system plus I got a new receiver HR21-700 for the other room. This new receiver does not have off air antenna in and I found out no new DirecTv receiver are coming with off air in anymore...bummer because I have all my equipment rack mounted in a room by istefl and 2 of the tv monitors are in seperate rooms.
Well my problem seems to be fixed. I am receiving all my channels perfectly now.
