Ask Jason or Alan, who has installed a few. I believe 1400 is normal.

Here is the very best testing and info:

I think he was asking about the C3XE, not the C3X 1080

That thread is for C3X1080 figures, the OP was for C3Xe figures. The C3X1080 has a significant lumen drop compared to the C3Xe

indeed C3XE
i'll have it again this weekend for testing.
if mirrors aren't visible at 4meters and if HD looks great, i'll keep it
screen is scope 400X171cm mp so its big
issue is moiré or not. that will be tricky.... awaiting a denser mp screen soon. current one is only 4.5%
there's no alternative: a screen this size requires 1000 real lumens (2.5x a HD100/VW60 to give an idea) or more.
the C3X 1080 indeed has less lumens.

The C3Xe will give you 1000 d65 lumen easy, possibly even 900 at low power. Around 1400 D65 is normal. I believe Alan uses one and Jason has installed a few, I think they should be able to verify those numbers as being typical.

Its also a good overall PQ improvement over the old C3X.

WOOPS!!!!@@ You got me.

I think its a trade off. Less lumens, better CR.

but on a giant 170" screen (scope mp) you have no choice: it's about 68sq feet
so you need 1360 lumens if you want 20FTL for instance
the C3XE gives from 1200 to 1700 per reviews i have, calibrated.
and giant on off contrast ratio isn't paramount with a large scope format.
besides ansi contrast is 3times of lcos

the beast is at home for re testing
first re-impressions:
1. massive brightness: which reminds me a xenon luminosity in theaters
since lumens capacity is high, whites don't clip because it's natural power not pushed over contrast brigthness. this is not a toy (300-400lumens pj): this is for adults :D (1000-1700lumens); outdoor scenes are amazing in naturalness.(note: i'm in the camp of 20/25FTL people than 6-12)
2. sharpness: with HD it's much better than lcos and better than some 1DLP: impact of perfect convergence and great optics.
3. colorimetry: natural. superb. not cartoonish like lcos, lcd.
4. 3D and ansi contrast: wow ! depth is massive. impressed. ansi is more important than on off :D
5. downscaling: you don't see it. it's really something a lot simpler than upscaling for a pj or electronics. sce is 24P PS3.
6. noise, dvd: i'll say it's forgiving more on noisy HD than a full hd pj which forgives nothing and reveals too easily micro noise. also dvd can look better on a 720p but it depends on distance and upscaling. i find it revealing less noise than the 1080p model.
next tests: all screen width with ISCO lens and impact on mperforations (so far no moiré with screen size 350cm)
i'll post some pics.

I know 1080 is the rage but we just installed a 720 C3X pro in a dental lab on a huge screen and what a picture. They use it mostly for slide presentation. For commercial applications the $$ value verse performance on this thing is amazing and cant be beat. Plenty of horse power. Dont write off 720 just yet.

We are on the same page. Now you know why I was so addicted to my 720 C3Xe. For HT on the right size screen at the proper viewing distance its at the top of its game.

Alan you were and ARE so right :). this is the thing. with proper screen size and distance, wow. i opened a new thread with same text above with my impressions. don't what to do know with two threads :D

If you watch sports with some friends, this frequently requires some ambient light.Try making a user preset at lamp native temp and you'll pick up some extra lumens. Ive seen 1300 on a C3X become 1600. The effect of 8900k, or whatever it is, on color accuracy is not readily critical to sports enjoyment.
