First off, one question...I made my own 104" diag. screen with velvet border and I find that I have to use the vertical lens shift on my Epson 1080UB while zooming between 16:9-2.35:1 movies. IS THIS NORMAL??? I thought this was "Constant Height" and thus no lens shift. I do not have a lens and scaler by the way and am just using the zoom effect....

Observations: WOW! I love this wider aspect, as I have never been a fan of the "black bars".....It's a bigger screen than my 16:9 behind it....almost the same height, but much wider....did I say WOW??? Any feedback would be great!

Yes, projectors will zoom from the top/bottom of the pic, not the center. So you have to use some kind of shift to move the zoomed picture to stay at the same height as the smaller 16:9 size.

The term "Constant Height" means that, regardless of the aspect you're viewing, the height dimension of the picture remains constant. Say you have a 60" high 2.35:1 screen, scope movies will be 141" wide, 1.85:1 movies will be 111" wide, and 1.33:1 programming will be 80" wide - but they'll all be 60" tall.

How your projector zooms depends on how it is set up. If it is centered both vertically and horizontally on the screen, then zooming it will not require changing the lens shift. However, if you're using some kind of lens shift and you use the zoom method, you will have to re-adjust the lens shift every time you zoom because, as JDLIVE pointed out, the projector is no longer centered on the picture so it will zoom more down than up or vice-versa.

It never gets old hearing the "ooohs" and "ahhhs" when people see my scope setup. I absolutely love it...now I just need some anamorphic BDs to show on it!
