I need help figuring out how far down from the ceiling my projector needs to be mounted. Here are my room specs- 22' long, 12' wide, 10' high ceilings, 10" tall back riser starting at 13' feet back from screen. I have a Hitachi HDPJ52 projector and my screen is 106" 16:9. The projector will be mounted approximately 14' from the screen. I really have no idea which mount I should buy and what kind of length of extension is needed for my set-up so that the picture on the screen in front will be at the proper level for both rows of seats. If anyone can provide any advice/feedback, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)

Any advice out there for how low I should hang the projector?

Although not specifically identified in your manual, the ceiling install rendering would seem to indicate that the projector lens should be located at about the 3/4 point up from the bottom of your screen. So, based upon the screen height off the floor and the actual screen measurement, that should give you some idea of how high off the floor.
I have a JVC DLA-HD1 and haven't been able to find a height guide either other than based upon maximum vertical adjustment the projector has which is that you do not want to have to adjust up or down more than 75% to 80% of the image. I have a 9'-0" high room and have the center of the lens at 8'-0" which is actually right at the top of my screen. I am 16 ft. back from the screen and do not have any issues.
You could try the olde' trial and error method if you needed to. Set your projector on top of a ladder or something, turn it on and project an image. Change your height and adjust the vertical angle and see how high up you can get it without impacting the picture on your screen. That's kinda the way I did mine to make sure that mine would work OK seeing how I wanted mine as high as possible. Not very scientific but it worked.
Good Luck.
WOW,,, are our rooms/equipment close!!!
Ok,,, my room is 20' long, 14' wide, and 10' tall,,, I have a 107" screen and the same PJ as you. My screen is mounted 37.5' from the floor (actual screen material, not including the frame), the PJ is mounted approx. 14' away from the front wall, directly over my 8" riser. The PJ is on a mount that drops the center of the lense to right at 13.5' from the ceiling.

When I installed the PJ and set it up, I used the lense shift to bring the image down some (not perfect I know) I didn't max out the verticl offset, and I then I angled the PJ down slightly (not perfect I know) to get the full image onto the screen. I then had to slightly keystone correct the image due to the tilted PJ. (not perfect I know)
I was worried that the adjustments I made were going to throw off the image, focus, etc. to a point at which I wasn't going to be happy...... but I also didn't want the folks in the rear seats to worry about smacking their heads on the PJ when they exited/entered.
I read a bunch of stuff that told me that my set up wasn't going to be perfect,,, but I did it this way due to compromises I felt were needed. I have to say, I am VERY happy with both the picture and the performance of the PJ,, I have no focusing issues top to bottom or side to side. I just made the jump to Blue Ray using 720P and Damn,,, I'm a happy guy!
You may not want to make the sacrifices in "perfection" that I made,,, but I bet you would be happy mounting it a foot or so from your ceiling.
Good luck
