Ok, so people (including kids) are at the house and want see what the G90 (or your 9-inch CRT) is capable of doing. Out of curiosity what is the first thing people are showing these days? Lately, I been either showing the blu-ray intro to Bond followed by the second track or the ocean disk in the series of the Planet Earth blu-ray set. I also have the COLTs win over the Bears in HD, which is always a big hit with Indy folks. Somehow I think that I can do better??? Of course, I want people to leave at some point as well:D

I always have some trailers off the HDNet on my DVR just for that. Some may not be for kids.
For family Ratatouille and Cars are good choices.

One of my favorite demo scenes was the Canal Chase in Terminator 2. I have never seen the Blu-ray version but the HD WMP version was very good. The lightning strike in the beginning of Rattatoouie was funny as hell too.

Love the entire Bond Film. The blacks in that movie are to DIE FOR and the colors are AWESOME.

I do however HATE that the Colts beat Da Bears.;)

Shoot em up as well is KICK ASS. The sound is incredible. What a great job.

For me though, one of the most kick ass scenes you will ever see on a CRT is the Dtheater version of Moulin Rouge. Oh is it to die for at 1080P/60. Love it. The DTS track as well is amazing.

I cant wait for it to come out on BD.

Here are some noteable movies I've seen recently in HD-

The Ant Bully - stunning quality
Meet the Robinsons - exciting future world, nice animation
Tarzan - virtually flawless, fantastic artistry

Beowulf - didn't get it in general, ugly animation, bland worlds for the most part

Some great suggestions. Will have to purchase polar express. I have Ratatouille and agree that it is a good movie, the included alien training clip is hilarious. Really can't imagine hd cartoon movies looking any better than on a 9inch crt. No doubt now that blu ray has emerged as the winner of hd content many more options will become available in the next year or so.

No one ever mentins this movie, bt to me it is just as mpressive as a Pixar movie but for different reasons. Happily N'ever After. It is not as intricate in the details as a Pixar movie such as Rattatouie, but it is Far more dimensional. I swear some scenes lo0k as though they are on the screen as opposed to in it. Trust me, it is extremely impressive. And a pretty funny movie at times to, not on par with a Pixar movie as far a story telling, but entertaining still.

I think the beginning of Cars on Blu-ray is great for both video and audio. The revving of engines and the cars wizzing past on one side or the other with the surround sound really add to the video, which is also great. This is a scene that works best with the audio up quite a bit, IMO. And it has a blackout near the beginning, so good for showing off CRT absolute blacks.

Independence Day on Blu-ray releasing next Tuesday may have some good demo stuff, and there are some good scenes from I, Robot (also releasing on Blu-ray next Tuesday and already on D-Theater). The scene with Will Smith driving in the car and getting attacked by masses of robots is a pretty good one. Unfortunately some upcoming IMAX titles on HD DVD got canceled, but Blu-ray will be getting Dolphins and The Living Sea from IMAX on April 8th.

Another great demo for kids is the Pod Races in the Star Wars series. My son never tires of this demo. Wonder when the series will hit blu ray? It does not appear that money is the driving force for George. With that said, even at DVD quality the pod race has great visuals and sound. The Blu ray Spiderman III has some great visuals and sound as well. Unfortunately, the movie is too long and gets bogged down in parts. Whats interesting is that you can put on just about anything HD for someone who has not seen a 9inch CRT picture and astound them. Of course once you become used to your set up you look for content that pushes the envelope in picture and sound. Will have to check out Happily Never After and will definitely be purchasing Independence day - love the end when Will Smith and company fly in and out of the alien mother ship.

I just watched Sunshine on blu-ray and thought it had some spectacular potential demo scenes. Especially for showing off deep black space shots almost instantly contrasted with close ups of, well the sun. Doesnt get any brighter than that.

I second Sunshine on Bluray! :D

The Prestige on Bluray also is stunning.
