Probably not the best. You should look for something that does 720 native if possible. I'm sure it will look "ok" though..

For that price I would look for a used or refurb 20" Dell, I can tell you for a fact that they play nice with the 360, I still use my 2005fpw on occasion for LANs.

I would recommend an actual HDTV for use with your Xbox 360. Too many of these "widescreen monitors" are 16x10, which is not the correct aspect ratio for high definition content. Some time ago, someone decided "Hey, wouldn't it be neat to do 16x10, so that way we could show 16x9 content in its original aspect ratio, but also have a status bar along the top or bottom?", and so the monitor industry decided on 16x10, but it's total crap in my opinion.

i was under the impression 16X10 was chose in the pc world for realtime editing in full resolution, still room at the bottom for some "tools" etc in editing software. i think viewing said content was an afterthought.

if you play on a PC monitor, in a 1:1 or normal mode, then yes. you can stretch it out to fit the 16x10 screen, but it will be slightly distorted, and it's up to you if you like how it looks or not...

i agree with the person above that said to go the HDTV route, even if it's only a good 26" HDTV, because i personally hate black bars on the top and bottom of my screen.

I got a 24 inch LG. There's a 1:1 mode for 1080 content so the 16:10 ratio is a non-issue for me, overall it's a very serviceable set. I forget my model number offhand but you might give it a try, has HDMI and component inputs as well as VGA.

Still doesn't compare to 360 on a big screen, of course ;)

Do be sure not to ever watch any movies that are 2.35:1 aspect ratio, else you'll see those black bars on the top and bottom.

that doesn't bother me, because i know i don't have a choice and can't change the fixed ratio of a movie, but i sure do have a choice to either use a 16:9 HDTV and get no black bars or use a 16:10 monitor and get black bars with my 360. if i can avoid the black bars, i do, which is why i stopped using my 360 with a PC monitor in January. i know, it may sound silly, but it's one my pet peeves...

Well, you could do what they do in movie theaters. There, they have movable masks for the screen. I notice them moving into the proper position, just before a 2.35:1 widescreen movie starts. Before that, the idiot advertising for upcoming this that and the other, is usually in 4:3. So, maybe a sliding bezel for the top and bottom. Might be cool if a high end monitor had motorized sliding bezel.

I got the 28" viewsonic and am very happy. The black bars are fine for me and some pc games scale to 1920x1200. I do find the 800x600 games somewhat harder to view. Look for something that has hdmi input, a quick response time, and at least 720P.
