Ready to upgrade after few years of use with Infocus 4805 in multi-purpose room but still will be using 10 year old Samsung plasma. My budget around 4K or maybe little higher if it makes sense for this setup -- the room has windows (one which is a backyard sliding door) and it is a small room. The projector will be installed on ceiling around 12’ from screen and planning to use 92” screen. The room is small around 12’x14’.
So which projector should I choose for this room??. oh, please I prefer that is ease of use and ready to go out of the box with minimal modifying the settings.
I own the RS1 and had the VW60. I placed a 4805 in my last HT when I sold my house (replaced a VW50). You'd love both projectors but they each have pros and cons. From a functional perspective the VW60 is great: lens control ,whisper quiet, CMS, lots of tweakability, more refined. The RS1 doesn't have the same tweakability or conveniences but has native contrast and in my opinion a more satisfying picture. The RS1 is much brighter while it still has better blacks (RS1 low lamp is equal or brighter than the VW60 in high lamp). Some say the VW60 may have the better black level in a fade to black but I could not see it with my VW60 unless the iris was set to fixed at a very low setting. The VW60 seems to handle 1080p24 smoother than the RS1. This is a very subjective choice as both are absolutely fantastic projectors. However, a 92" screen and average size room may not require many lumens and would be best with a quieter projector.

I also have both an RS1 and a VW60 and I agree with most what Rob has said. Both are very fine projectors and you'd be happy with either.
On that size screen, brightness won't be an issue with either. I chose to keep the VW60 because in may case it does have slightly better blacks than the RS1, and I like its added tweakability and the motorized options.

They are both great. If you are leaning towards the RS1, I would wait until the newer one (RS1x) comes out that has the gamma controls. If budget is flexible, check out a RS2 to see if it the extra performance is worth it for you.
