I just got a hot new camcorder, the Sony XDCAM PMW EX-1, shot some footage and plugged it into one of my my Denon AVR-4306's rear component inputs (DBS Stereo). The Denon sends my signal to my Hitachi HDPJ-52 projector via HDMI. The footage was shot in 1080P and the PJ is 720P.
What I saw was a pinkish-purple band all the way across the bottom of my 106" screen. As I was shooting a waterfall this really showed up badly. I checked the footage in my editing room and thankfully it's not the camera.
Is the conversion from component to HDMI causing this? Would going component from the receiver to the PJ solve this issue?
I am having to replace the iris on the PJ later this week. I don't notice this banding on any other source--TV or DVDs.
