I'm considering buying the eD A3-300 for my HT, but was also looking at a few subs by Velodyne, KEF and Definitive. I'm currently running Paradigms for Fronts, Rears, Dipoles and Center, but am not a big fan of their subs.

Obviously, eD is MUCH cheaper than most of the major manufacturers, but how does it compare in terms of sound and quality? I know it might not look as pretty, but I don't care about that.

The A3-300 is going to run me $500 when it's all said and done. The subs by the other manufacturers I was looking at were in the range of $1,000 - $1,200.

Thoughts?

Why not spend $850 and get the Ed A7S - 450 with the 1300 watt amp?
Still less money, but a very good sub, and worth the extra $$ over the Ed A3-300

I don't think I need that much power in my room.

You can always turn the gain down. And it impossible to have too much power! :D

1300 Watts in a sealed sub like the A7S-450 is not excessive power. I would guess it is equivalent to 500+ watt on a vented sub.

p.s. if you spend another week in this forum you're going to start to feel as if the A7S-450 may not be enough. :D

Well, I ordered it. I decided not to wait. Hahahaha!

Question now...does it really take 6-8 weeks for delivery? I'm not sure I can wait that long. :)

Welcome to the dark side. Muahahahaha!

Unfortunately, it probably will take that long. In the meantime you can live vicariously through us.:)

Yes, it will (probably) take that long. I have the A5-350 w/LT-550 and all I can say is the wait IS worth it. Great sub and great guys to work with in my experience.

I ended up going with the A3-300 with the upgraded driver and hourglass feet.

I called and spoke to their Sales Dept and told them the dimensions of my room and equipment. They said I could have done the A5-350, but that the A3-300 would do just as good a job in my room and that I would love it.

I'll post feedback when it arrives...in 2 months! Hahahahaha!
