My last camcorder purchase was 8 years ago for a Sony using 8mm tapes. Well, it's time to get another one.
The camcorder is mainly for casual use, kids birtday party, karate tournament, christmas, etc. just the general life stuff. So nothing fancy as video editing but do like to put the movies into dvd to watch on the plasma tv. And maybe put menu/chapters on the dvd so can skip to a particular scene easily.
From what I read, there is two format hdv (miniDV tape) and avchd (flash memory / hd). The hdv camcorder tends to be cheaper. I am kinda clueless was to what features to consider for a camcorder for my casual usage.
Any suggestions on features or a particular brand/model to look into is appreciated.
