View Full Version : VW60 - Correct Greens and Yellows ?
I've done a greyscale on a vw60 and its pretty flat.
The colors still look off compared to a DLP. Can it be corrected, suggestions?
Greens and yellows mostly, I noticed in the reviews people post CIE charts with corrected colors.
How did you correct them?
I assume its using the RCP functions but Im lost where to begin...
Not that they are oversaturated just green does not look green it seems to glow, same as yellow/orange?
Is it possible to get DLP like greens and yellows on a SXRD?
Jason Turk 03-05-08, 04:22 PM Go into the RCP section of the menu. There you can dial in your primary and secondary colors. Not surprised that you find this...the VW60 out of the box has oversaturated green, yellow and red.
Jason
Are you referring to a vw60 in standard or wide gamut mode?
Also RCP is no CMS. People say it is merly a color replacement system.
On another note are not dlp typically off the standard especially on green?
Jason thanks for the reply,
could you give me some tips on where to start
or maybe share your RCP settings as a starting point?
After the greyscale I checked a R G B color step ramps and all steps are showing so its not a clipping issue.
VW60 is set on normal color now.
I have a SpyderII and can run continous readings with HCFR and the CIE displayed,
just not sure what to adjust in the RCP menus?
Jason Turk 03-05-08, 08:16 PM Ohlson...with the VW50 you could not dial in the colors. With the VW60 that is not the case. As long as you start in Normal mode, you can dial them in perfectly. I do it all the time.
JackLT, you will need your Spyder to really do it. It's hard to explain in writing...if you want to call me tomorrow I can walk you through it.
Thanks for the offer Jason,
thats very helpful of you, but I would not feel right taking your time,
since I purchased the projector in Canada for warranty.
Maybe I'll post on the calibration forum...
Jason
That was news to me about RCP.
Can you get the correct lightness ratio between the primaries too as well as hitting the primary color coordinates?
I thought the spider sensor was made for Tubes or moniters. Do they also have a sensor you mount on your screen facing the projector, or do you mount the sensor in front of the PJ lens itself?
I have the tripod mount and just face it to the screen, seems to work well from 30-100 IRE.
SpyderII works with projectors too, may not be the most accurate but it is the easiest to find around here.

Doesn't matter...I am here to help. Offer still stands. :)

Though I have not used it...it should be pretty good for doing colors.
(No probes work well for 10 and often 20 IRE---well not none, but it is hard to get accurate readings).
