i am looking for a converter box for a spare tv i got two of the $40 bones "gift card things" so what is the best brand for under 60 bones or less before gift card thing???

i have heard about the echostream tr-40 but it has been push back again? right?
then there the amtc at-2016 that is linked to the gov website i know know of this brand any one has and or used one let me know my cards do bad 05/23/2008 so i want to use them soon:P

Define "best." What features are important to you?

You might find some useful information in the thread ATSC converter box comparisons (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=980052).

There are also threads about some individual boxes, e.g. the RCA, the Magnavox, and the Zenith/Insignia (they're the same box with different branding), which you should be able to find by scrolling back through a few pages worth of threads.

The Zenith/Insignia box has gotten favorable reviews, especially as regards reception.

Most of the FIFTY converter boxes on the NTIAs CECB approved list aren't yet available....check back later....
