I have a mitsubishi hc1500 with a cable box and toshiba A2/Oppo 981 player, both through the same hdmi cable. Both the cable box and dvd players are outputting 1080i 60hz. With the cable box, i have no option on the projector to change the amount of color in the picture. For example, when using the dvd player and hdmi cable, i have a color option with the cable box, there is no color option unless i use component cables.

Is the "color" option in the "image menu" grayed out when trying to select the option?

Can you access the "color temperatures" settings when you select "user" in the color temperature selections?.

I think the color setting option is only available when using an analog input cable (component,S-Video,composite), and the more defined "color temps" are available when using a digital input cable (hdmi,rgb via pc).

Mine is similar. I have no option to set color when my DirecTV box is selected via HDMI, but it's active if I switch to my HD-A30.
I just set it with the A30 selected.
