Macondawg 03-06-08, 01:38 PM OK, to be more careful: I am asking if there is an HD DVR available from DirecTV that will allow you to record 1 channel while watching another AND only requires 1 cable from the satellite? The installer said there was one coming out that had an internal splitter or something to that effect that would not require the 2nd cable. Not currently. rendar 03-06-08, 03:08 PM The single-wire multiswitch (SWM-8) is currently being tested/slowly phased in in a few markets. It will work with the current crop of HDDVRs that D* is using (the HR20 and HR 21 series), so once it becomes available in your market you will not have to get a new DVR. How much money we talking? texasbrit 03-08-08, 01:24 PM Do you have a link so we read about it? Does it eliminate the need for the "B Band Converter"? How much money we talking? The SWM8 removes the need for a BBC. It's "officially" only available to the installers of MDU (MultiDwelling Unit systems, for apartments/condos etc) but a few are appearing on the open market at a typical price of around $400 (weaknees.com).
