All - I used to have a Toshiba 51" Rear projection set (1080i). I have Comcast Digital Cable.. Everything worked GREAT on the Toshiba, and nothing on the front end has changed, all I did was unplug the HDMI cable from the Toshiba and plugged it into my new Panasonic 58PZ700U - now sometimes the sound will cut out (which doesnt goto the tv) and the tv will sputter and to the puzzle piece thing.. It only does it with COMCAST as the input.. I wonder if this is related to the signal upconverting in my Denon 2308Ci??

Any thoughts?

First run the HDMI from the cable box directly to your set. If it then works you probably have some handshake issues going on, which is all too common with HDMI equipment. You can always run the HDMI to the tv, and run a digital audio cable from the cable box to your receiver if the components don't get along well with HDMI via the receiver.

That's exactly what I do and my reception is great and the picture is beautiful. I have Comcast Digital HD package with the SA 8300HD box and the th42pz77u connected via HDMI.

Thanks! I suspect thats what it is, because when this happens, the Reciever blinks like its trying to resync;)

Just to confirm, I am running component cables to the 2308Ci which has everything set to auto - then HDMI from the Denon to the Panasonic, can this still be a handshake issue?? It seems to happen about 1-2 times per hour watching tv..

Am I understanding you, you are going HDMI from your cable box to your Rec, then from the rec, to the Panel?

No. I am going HDMI from the cable box directly to HDMI-1 input on the TV and then running the audio from the cable box to my receiver via digital coaxial. Same with my DVD recorder; HDMI cable from the recorder directly to the HDMI-2 input on the TV and then optical audio from the DVD player to the receiver for sound. My A/V receiver is a little older and only has component connections with no HDMI connections or else I would run both sources via HDMI to the receiver then a single HDMI from the receiver to the TV.

This may or may not help, switch the optical audio to cable box to receiver and see if you get the same results as you do with the digital coaxial.

I actually made a mistake in my post. The cable box audio is hooked up to the receiver via optical and the DVD recorder uses digital coax. I had that reversed in my other post.:o

BTW, I think you may have me confused with the OP. I am having zero problems.:)
