have seem some really nice spreadsheets comparing the coupon eligible converter boxes.
read something about an option some may have to provide mts.
am confused. the spreadsheet didn't show which boxes did and didn't provide the option.
does this imply using the converter box will disallow hearing shows that are broadcast with stereo sound?
I would think ethat even though tvs may be analog they generally play stereo. will we be losing this by using the converter boxes?

Stereo RF - not a chance . You can count on these CECBs having RF mono.
Stereo out the red/white A/V jacks - certainly.

Thanks for the quick reply. I think i understand now and that makes sense.
If i understand correctly, the red/white rca plug outputs will provide stereo.
Would you have any suggestions/guidance re: which box might be best buy. I'm seeing that the programming guide is not too good on the zenith. I also thought i saw someone mention that the zenith and the magnavox were the same but comparisons i see elsewhere don't seem to substantiate that. do you know if they are the same box just rebranded?

Yes, they will provide the separate L/R channels. The Insignia box offers the ability to change between stereo and mono, but using the RF connection, the only noticable difference is the sound is softer on the stereo setting.

The Insignia and Zenith boxes are essentially the same, the only difference is that "Insignia" is Best Buy's own brand much like Kenmore is Sears'. The guide only goes to the next hour which is fine for most channel surfing.
