I am selling my Optoma H31(500 hrs) for $500 with a ceiling mount, do you think this is a "fair" price? I know, what's it worth to me etc, etc but do you think that is a good price? I will hopefully be upgrading to a Mitsu HC1500 or HD65 as soon as the sale is done. Let me know what you think.

There's an H31 with 500 hours on ebay right now for sale starting at $250 with a buy it now price of $350. I've noticed the sale price of good used units is usually around $350.

Well I guess since I have two offers already for $500 I'll take one of them; thanks for the input.

Be careful of scams.....especially the whole receiving a check for over the amount asked, etc.
This happened to the person I bought my used Paradigm speakers from locally. He mentioned he got a better offer and I never heard from him. 2 months later the Paradigms were listed for sale again in the local craigslist. I contacted him and bought them for $200 less than my original offer 2 months prior! Apparently the 'better offer' was a guy that sent a fake check for more than the selling price, hoping to have him deposit and send the speakers and refund the difference. The check would clear, then a few days later the bank will reverse the deposit (this happens all the time). Luckily he didn't fall for it, but wasted 2 weeks dealing with the guy.
I told him the best way to insure against this was to demand a Postal M.O. only, then you can go straight to the P.O. and cash it immediately...if it's good! Scammers don't fake Postal M.O.'s because it would be a federal crime, and also because you can cash it the day you get it to know whether it's good or not.
$500 seems an awful lot for a used H31, those $500 offers my be too good to be true.

Agreed, that's why I won't settle for anything less than a Money Order with the receipt of purchase in their hands before handing over goods; especially when dealing with someone unknown. Thanks for the insight; it's a crazy world out there and unfortunately we have to be extra careful.

I've got my H31 sitting on my shelf, replaced by my Epson. If anyone is interested I'll let it go for $250 plus shipping. Low hours, great little PJ!

Just remember that banks will treat bad/fake M.O's the same way, will show cleared, then a few days (or a week later), they reverse the deposit. This happened at a store I worked at
Only a U.S. Postal M.O. can avoid this since you go straight to the post office and get cash!
