Most HD DVD owners are dissing on them anyways! Why are retailers even bothering to do this? Was something like this ever done in other format wars??

Seems like an easy way to push Blu-Ray players to me. Most stores are offering in store credit anyways. I wonder if they are sending the units back to Toshiba? Which means they get rid of the inventory while keeping the cash or selling a Blu-Ray player at higher prices.

Is anyone other than toshiba doing this? I heard about futureshop, but that deal sounded like it sucked. Combo players are way too expensive.
