Finally, EA getting their S$*% together! Interview with Kendall Boyd (product manager). Click on the link for the full story.

http://www.gametap.com/home/read/article/4584

"This is our year." Those are the words of NCAA Football's product manager Kendall Boyd as he sits down to talk about the 09 version of his game. We're rolling through the streets of Hollywood as members of Darren McFadden's entourage while Boyd talks about how Madden stepped up in 08 and it's NCAA's turn to finally rise back to prominence when it hits stores July 15.

Boyd explains how the team is much farther along in development than they were last year at this time, and when I ask him about the PS3 version's inferior frame rate, he has the words that Sony gamers have been dying to hear. "The PS3 version will run at 60 frames per second."

"You sure about that?" I ask.

"I guarantee it."

EA has made guarantees that they haven't kept before. I will wait on the reviews until I pick this one up, last years was SUCH a huge disappointment.

Duh. As I have been saying for so long, the reason last year's 360 Madden ran at double the framerate of PS3's wasn't because of some failing of PS3, it was because EA had an extra year to work on the 360.

Just in case anyone wants a review of the game, here goes.

See NCAA 07 review. Now runs at 60 fps on PS3 and has a few different animations. No significant improvement other than slightly smoother gameplay on PS3 version versus 07 edition.

i would rather know who is gonna be on the front cover than see a promise of 60fps. im slightly ticked about dmac just being on the 360 cover. the one year arkansas finally get a player on the cover...

i'm so tired of caring about whether madden will suck or not. thankfully, i'll have gta4 to sub in as my new crack addiction.

like, oh my gosh!!! i totally didn't know that. madden and ncaa are the same. same engine, just different players and different commentary. oh, and different ai settings. if you talk about one, you can always expect comments on the other.

Its really about an EA sports title running at 60FPS moreso than NCAA Football. NCAA just so happens to be the first to market. ;)

Whatever. Are they going to fix the buggy online play too? There are tons more things wrong with this series than just the framerate.

And NCAA Football is my 2nd favorite franchise and my favorite sports game. So it's not like I'm hating on the series, I just have high expectations for it and the gameplay has let me down for years now.

I have the same complaints with both NCAA and Madden. Although Madden would have greatly benefited from a stable 60 fps, the game would still be hindered by a number of serious gameplay flaws. Anyone who has played Madden 08 extensively is familiar with the absurdly high number of fumbles and CPU DBs that must have eyes in the back of their heads and a level of prescience that would impress any psychic. I hope EA can improve the gameplay in addition to the framerate, but I'm not counting on it.

But that makes a HUGE difference. Madden on the 360 wipes the floor with the PS3 version.
Hopefully that will no longer be true.

Thank you!

This is one of my biggest issues with current football games. They haven't improved upon some of the serious physics issues over the past 3 years. It seems like a lot of things have naturally progressed and gotten better, but a offensive lineman can still keep a punt returner from running around the corner on punt coverage, and a MLB can still intercept a 15 yard crossing route while standing 2 yards off the LOS.

Not to mention DBs being able to break after the receiver on an out pattern and still beat him to the ball

I've stopped buying madden the past 2 years and the only reason I buy college is to recruit. Very rarely do I actually play the game during my dynasties.

EA can eat a fat one ... claims don't mean sh!t until the game is released ... at 60 FRAMES!! ... and doesn't suck.

They still owe me 60 dollars from the heap i purchased last year.

It wasn't just a slow framerate "in the game" (EA)....everything from the Menus, to the startup....substitutions, reviewing statistics.

Every single thing about that game was slow, i'm not sure about the 360 version nor do i care. If anyone at EA even cared to play the game on the ps3 when they were "done" with it there is no way they could have said...."ok, we're done with this and we can release it now"

Think about it....if we're used to a certain speed, but it takes literally minutes to make the substitutions, depth chart changes and recruiting that used to take seconds Why would we put up with that.

Normally i play NCAA football for a solid year until the next year comes out....this game didn't make it out of the summer and i had to resort to buying the ps2 version.....500$ on a game system and i have to accept a "downgrade" that was actually an upgrade because EA didn't have the right level of QC.

No launch day purchase for me, not after that trash.

I feel the same exact way. It was the first time I traded the game in way before the baseball games come out. I usually am recruiting in my dynasty well after the real college football season has ended. The game was so clunky it was ridiculous.

NBA Live was supposedly at 60 fps (though there was some slowdown here and there) and FIFA is certainly at 60 fps. I'd LOVE to see Madden run at a smooth clip.

I've always loved this game, my favorite of all time. I've played since PS1 and I think it was '98. That's back when you could do the little circle and screw people up big time, better than juke ever thought about being. I had 07 for the PS2 and loved it, so I thought 08 would be more of the same but in HD. I was soooo wrong. I sold the game to make what I could back on it, the first time I've ever did that with a NCAA football game. It was kinda sad. I didn't get my recruiting fix and I didn't get to make sure that every SEC team won every out of conference game. My OCDness suffered greatly. I hope that this years improves greatly on the gameplay, because I do actually like to play the game. I'll wait for your opinions before buying though, cause I don't want to be ripped off like I was last year.
