Long term CRT PJ user moving to LCD (need the space). Got a Hitachi PJTX10 rigged up progressive scan via VGA cable to HTPC. Been noticing picture break up - what looks like
deinterlacing artifacts in small fast moving areas. It's not purely electronic as I can recreate it by zooming the lens in and out quickly or even shaking my head. So it seems to be an optical effect stemming from the refresh rate / scanning etc. I've done a bit of quick research - I *thought* I was pretty clued up - and am disappointed to find this is a LCD trait - it's worse than the pixels, and ruins the film like experience when it happens. Changing resolutions seems to help a little (even though I assume it's all converted to the same panel format). Reducing contrast helps too, though I don't know how much of that is optical and how much electrical i.e. if the pixels switch quicker.
I'd like to know what tweaks I could do to reduce it - for example I haven't tried using the s-video output in the PC which might(?) have better scaling / processing in the TX10.
TIA.
Clive.
