I have both a Plasma and Projector set-up, is there a way that I can simultaneously connect the PS3 via component to the Plasma and HDMI to the projector.

This is how I have more other hi-def sources connected (HD-A2 and HD DVR) but it seems that the PS3 only allows for one video output at a time.

Nope. I wish they could add that to a firmware update.

The ps3 can only output 1 Video, audio at a time. Which I find odd as every other compnnet I have can. Kinda of a step back.
I'm hoping a firmware will atleast fix the audio

Thanks - bummer though. I guess the only option would be a 4 X 2 HDMI switcher. For now I wait for a firmware update because there is absolutely no reason that I can think of why this shouldn't work.

No, and it's ridiculous that it can't do that.

I contacted a Sony rep about this a few weeks ago and they say it's due to "hardware limitations" and that there will be no fix for it.

you can get an hdmi switch with 2 outputs (check monoprice)

That way, you can just change the ouput in the switch whenever you want to use the projector or the plasma.

I have my PS3 connected to a flat screen and a digital rear projection HDTV. You can have them both on at the same time or one room at a time. The box is about $58.80 and is HDMI 1.3a compatible and handles HDCP fine. I love it!! The only downside is the increase in handshake time, which is expected especially when going through the splitter, the receiver, and the TV. You just have to be patient if you want to have multiple displays in your system.

I was about to start a new thread, but found this.

Basically, I have my PS3 connected solely to my Plasma right now via it's own, dedicated, HDMI cable and it's outputting 1080p.

I do have a 2x2 Geffen HDMI Splitter, but I'm wondering if it's 1.3a HDMI compatible (or if that even matters).

Also, I have the PS3 enabled to display all resolutions up to 1080p, but my PJ only goes up to 1080i. Will my PJ still display it? Thanks.

It probably doesn't matter if it's 1.3a or b. Nothing is using Deep Color yet, and the PS3 can't pass TrueHD or DTS-HD MA as a bitstream.

As for your projector, just try it and see. If it doesn't work you can reset the video settings.

I've been thinking about getting a 3x1 or 4x1 switcher from Monoprice, but there are lots of reports of it not working with certain hardware configurations. I think I'll wait and see if they revise the switcher I'm looking at.
