I just got the 6416 from comcast and have it connected to a samsung 32 hdtv. our analog cable channels are horrible compared to what they were before we go the box. I am connected to the tv with hdmi and the coax from the ground inside my house to the cable box is quad shielded. is there a fix to this problem?

Go into the main menu on the box and set the SD output resolution. Just turn off teh box, then press the "menu" button, and you'll have all kinds of A?V options in the box, then make sure your TV options are correct. I like to have mine send 4:3 content as standard, then change anything I need at the TV.

I agree with the above post.
You may also want to try the Composite video, S-Video, and Component-HD outputs as well, to see if you are having the same problem with those as you are with HDMI.

If you can't clear up the issue, ask Comcast if they have the DCH3416. The DCH prefix are newer boxes than DCT, and 34XX is all digital, while 64xx is analog/digital.

I run my 4:3 override at 480i to get the best analog signals via my HDMI cable. However, to get the very best analog signal, I run a splitter in line and send the cable signal direct to the TV cable input to get the best analog signal. I hope when we go all digital, that it will get better. By running the override at 480i, I then let the TV "stretch" the picture to fill the whole screen. On a native 16:9 signal the TV knows that and does not stretch it.

32 inch Sammy as well with a Motorola dch-6416. I use 480p override and then set the tv to 4:3 mode. I am also using hdmi cable. It will not let you select 480i using hdmi. Its the tv and not the box. It will be the same with your box. As for hd. I have mine set to 1080i in the box settings and then set the tv to Just Scan for hd channels. That way you see the full picture with no cut off. Leaving it in 16:9 produces over scan. It even says in your manual when viewing 720p/1080i content to use Just Scan.
