View Full Version : Throw problem when selecting a new projector

One of the problems with my set up is throw distance. The distance from the front of the lens to the screen is 9.3'. For the Z2000, 1080UB, and the Miti 4900 the maximum size of the screen from that distance is approximately 90" diagonal on a 16x9 screen. For the W5000 and H80 it is even smaller (70").

I would like to have the equivalent of 115" on a 16x9 screen, but I cannot mount the projector further back. What are my options?

BTW, the reason why I want such a large screen is to have constant height of 43" using the zoom method. For 2.35 movies this gives me 101"x43", and for 16x9 it gives me 77"x43" which is exactly the size with my current projector.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Unless you can make the throw distance longer, you are stuck with one of three solutions:

1. Bounce the projection off a mirror to increase the throw.
2. Add a wide angle lens
3. Get a shorter throw PJ
