Is there any way to convert Coax cale into HDMI? I am switching back to cable from my sat. service and for the projector that will not have HD (we mostly watch movies on it) I will still occasionally like to view tv programming. I only have HDMI running through my wall and ceiling now.

Yeah, use a set top box. You could get pickup a TiVO HD then rent a cable card or two from your cable provider, it has HDMI out.

How about aything that does not require an extra service plan? I can get the HD DVR from my cable provider but they cannot guarantee that HDMI will work on it. They said it is about a 50/50 shot.

Isn't there any type of "cable box" I can buy that has a HDMI output?

Anyone?

If your projector is hdcp compliant , Then Any cable box will work with hdmi.
But the cable boxes also have component video and s-video as well so why not use one of those?

You might have a problem with this tuner. This unit does not have a NTSC tuner in it. It has ATSC and clear QAM. With out NTSC you will not get any analog channels. If you have digital cable service you do not need the NTSC tuner.

The only cheap tuner (that I know of) that does NTSC, ATSC and clear QAM is the PrimeDTV PHD-205 $149, but it does not have HDMI out. It uses component or composite out. If your AVR has HDMI out you can run component from the tuner to your AVR and then run HDMI to your projector. That is what I am doing. You can also buy a switch box to convert component to HDMI, but then you are buying two devices.
