Not from Optoma, that's for sure. Their replacement remotes are painfully expensive. I believe the Logictech Harmony remotes will work projectors. I have the 880 and it does, but then it's not a cheap remote. Check out some of their other remotes.

Any universal that has a learn mode can be programmed for on and off.

Of course, that doesn't help here. :)

Some of the One4All remotes can be updated by One4All to include the HD70.

URC R-5 or R-7 (Not the R-6). It is a learning remote and you can use the device keys as macros for automating your activities. It doesn't get much cheaper for this level of capability.

I have the URC R-6 and I programmed in all of the HD70 remote functions. The R-6's macro capabilities are more limited than the R-5 and R-7 but it does all that I need. It also turns my room light on and off. It cost $20 and it is very reliable. One negative is that, except for the component buttons, there is no backlighting.

I tried the using the Optoma pre-programmed code (265) and the buttons I programmed before are still operating the HD70 so I'm not sure the pre-programmed code works. But the manual does state that projectors are included in the codes and Optoma is listed. I don't want to do a factory reset to check for certain if the Optoma pre-programmed code works.
The remote is fairly ergonomic. (One can tell by feel which way is front, anyway. :) ) It's well worth $20.

The only place I could find it was at Walmart.

If the built-in code does not work one could go to a BB or similar B&M store and program the remote. It takes just a couple of minutes and is easy.

Good luck.

The R-6 is nice and I personally like the key layout of it the best of the R series. The problem with it is you can only program the on,off and A,B,C,D buttons for macros. So A could be TV, and B DVD, etc. With the R-5/R-7 you can program macros on the device keys. So pressing the 'DVD' key will switch all the components to the DVD inputs if programmed that way.

The A,B,C,D keys are fine if you are the only one using the remote but the on/off and device keys is more intuitive for other users.

The R-5 retails for $25 and can control 5 devices. The R-7 can control 7 devices and retails for $35. The R-7 also has light button which can be convenient in the dark. You can usually find these at BB or CC.

Thanks Bob. I'll be looking for the R-5 or R-7. I hope the R-7's lights allow one to see which button is which.
I just happened to find the R-6 at a Walmart. I'd looked at my local BB and CC and couldn't find this brand. I didn't know about these other two. I'll look harder next time.
