I just ordered my HC720 and can't wait to get started with my first projector. My budget isn't very large, so I have to "wing it" with the screen for now.

My question is: Would I be better off projecting onto a painted white wall (smooth as a baby's bottom) or a cheap screen? I ordered an AccuScreen 100" Diag screen (800002) last night and I just figured I'd ask if I wasted my money. Would I get just as good PQ if I just threw onto a painted wall as I would this screen?

Thanks!

I am projecting on a off-white painted drywall. The image looks good. I know that with a light grey screen, the black levels will be much better. I bought a 4x8 white board from Lowes, just didn't get around to painting it yet and mounting.

I would have recommended that you shoot on the wall first and find out how it looks, and experiment with screen sizes and so forth before purchasing a screen. But maybe that screen will be just what you want and will work out fine.

A nice white wall will beat a non-tensioned pulldown hands down if you have a light controlled room (reason: no waves).
