I am here sitting down looking at the options wondering what exactly are these settings for?, did they put this in late in development to hide flaws or to make the game display ever better?, if anyone of you can let me know which is the best setting that would be cool.

The settings read

"DEFAULT, LUCENT, VIBRANT, SOFT"

this is a typical option for most unreal engine 3 games. it's simply a color adjustment so find the one that looks best to you. I personally use vibrant because it makes the colors pop, which i like.

Oh I didn't know this was always part of UE3 games, so they put this in their games to improve the display or for usage so you can hide flaws. The game has some weak textures but oddly enough they get better as you play the game(I am guessing more dev time for those parts). kinda made it seemed too sharp and just made it seem like the characters who btw seem to be have the best textures walking around on a PS2 in HD world lol. Let me mess around with these settings and see whats the best to my eyes, thanks for the reply :).

Woah it looks way better on Vibrant, why the hell they choose DEFAULT to be the main one?, stupid EA. If Epic made this game clearly they would had picked Vibrant as default.

You just found out that vibrant is great for "YOUR" display just like the default works for other owners displays.

Um, they "choose" default because that's what it is, the "default".
YOU on the other hand are free to select any of the other 3 options.
At least they GAVE you the choice, they didn't HAVE to!

Not to pile on, but the two Epic UE3 releases (UT3 and Gear of War) both used default as the default setting. Which makes more than a little sense.

As a counter to your preference for vibrant, I like default much more than vibrant. Vibrant makes the UE3 games look more like cartoons than documentaries of war-torn areas. Actually, when I played through Gears of War I may have used lucid.

Did he just ask why the "Default" setting is set to default???? Hahahahaha...

I have a question though, the picture doesn't go all the way to the edges of the screen. MLB 08 had an option to fill the entire screen up, but this game doesn't.

what's with everyone bashing this guy for discussing a game's graphics options? obviously EA can name and set any option they want to default and he was just wondering why the default option wasn't more vivid. it seems a perfectly reasonable question seeing as how the average buyer would probably prefer oversaturated colors.

to answer your question sssick, i believe the game dev's of army of two got lazy and assumed all tv's automatically overscan the image. if that's the case then i think your SOL and are forced to stretch the image via your tv. kind of sucks if that's the case. my sony KDL-40V3000 automatically overscans the image (no borders) but i don't have a thorough enough understanding of overscan to know if this is a good thing or not.
