Equipment

PS3
Onkyo TS-XR605
6' HDMI Cable
2 75' HDMI Cables with built in repeater
HDMI wall plate
Sony KDL52XBR4

Connection

PS3 <6' HDMI> HDMI wall plate <75' HDMI> Onkyo <75' HDMI> Sony

Problem Description:

When booting directly into a game certain games come right up. Other games will not come up at all. If you try to go into the menu or to boot up PS3 without a game it will display only a blank screen. If the PS3 is connected directly to the TV with the 6' HDMI cable everything works great. There is also an HD cable box that is attached to the Onkyo with a 6' HDMI. It works pretty good with a short flicker as you change channels.

It sounds like there might be a handshake delay in the 75' one that is causing problems with HDCP. I'm not sure if there is a lot to do to correct this, but maybe a HDMI repeater in the middle might be good to ensure that the signal can travel that distance without too much degradation.

75' that's a fair length. I've never used one that long, the one I use is 20' with no problems.

What grade of HDMI cable do you have? the higher versions actually do have stricter contruction standards, meaning thicker wire and more shielding.

Hmm, tough situation. I would have to say that you would need to call a home theater installation expert to take a look at this one. I would highly suspect HDCP, but I have no idea how I could prove it.

The only thing I can think of trying is to use one 75' length at a time from the ps3 to the LCD to see if the AVR is presenting issues in between or if the cable is the culprit.

could you at least attempt to swap the 75' cables around, if one is moderatly better quality than the other it may do a better job between the amp and the ps3. also, you could try using a repeater / hdmi switch in the middle to see if the amp is causing the headache?

sorry i have nothing more useful
