so I've been trying to talk myself into a new player for the last couple of months. Thought I had a good deal on a Denon 1930 but after reading a bunch of not so positive things about macroblocking (especially on Pannys - mine's a PZ77u) I returned that. Eventually I was going with a Toshiba D3 but the first one I got home wouldn't play one of the HD DVDs in the box, and the other was DOA. Sorry don't tell me to get another Toshiba.

so I came across the Pioneer DV400 and the Denon dvd1730 and want to know what impressions you have of one over the other. And is the Pio's build quality better than any other $99 players out there? If Oppo had a $100 player I'd buy it in an instant, but can't quite afford one. I currently own a Toshiba player (that I had to get fixed under warranty) with component outputs but the way my HT is set up it would be hard to route a set of component wires to the TV. An HDMI cable is already wired in.
