I'm trying to replicate an old auto switching setup I built out of a stack of Sony SBV55A S-video switches
www dot amazon dot com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000069JWW/themussou02355760-20 but in component and HDMI video. The old Sony switches (one master and 3 slaves for an effective stacked 9x1 switch) work great for the kids older video game systems. They turn it on and the signal finds its way to the tv.
I've tried a bunch of HDMI switches including some non-functional overpriced Reliant's, Terks and Monoprice ending up on a non-autoswitching monoprice 4088
www dot monoprice dot com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10110&cs_id=1011002&p_id=4088&seq=1&format=1#largeimage" . I ordered the monoprice 8x1 auto switch 4067
www dot monoprice dot com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10110&cs_id=1011002&p_id=4067&seq=1&format=2
but it burnt out in 5 hours and locked up on any PVR connection keying on the perpetual presence of unit power rather than the dropped or asserted video signal. I've got 7 HDMI sources and climbing so I need to find a large input count or input stackable switches.
I'd also like to try this for component video but havent found anything that will auto switch except for a pricey 4x1 Audio authority box who's model number I've forgotten.
And can anyone recommend a successor product to the SB-V55A for S-Video since Sony's chosen to drop them (preferably with more than 3 Svideo inputs per 4x1 switch). Monoprice has chosen not to do ANY S-video switches anymore.
Any suggestions or comments would be very helpful. :)

PS. Sorry about the non active url links but they won't allow them from me till I post more.

I just bought a 4 in/1 out HDMI switch from monoprice.com. It works great and it was economical. Check it out.

I've got 2 of them but they don't autoswitch at all and since there's no IR learning you're stuck with yet another remote. You'll also find they're prone to 5 second dropouts every hour or so for hdmi reauthorization for some reason and a bit picky on compatability with Sony DVD changers.

I'd really like to find an autoswitching keyed on video signal 6x1 or 8x1 with IR learning.
