Hi all,
I am a newbie and I am trying to setup my Sony 1271. I am trying to get the test pattern on the screen but im not able to. Here are the sequence of events

1. Turn projector on and wait for 10 minutes
2. Press Input A with no input and I see a "Input A no input message"
3. Try to enter the service man mode
4. press test key 5 times continuously or keep the test key pressed for 5 seconds or more
5. All I see is a not applicable or OFF message blinking
6. I press "enter enter up down enter" sequence to enter serviceman mode but as soon as I enter "up" or "down" I see a not applicable message
7. How do I know if I am already in the service man mode if I am
8. I tried cutoff R or cutoff G but get the not applicable again

Did anyone encounter this problem? Please help me out, I read the manual already and am looking for some practical input.

Thanks.

Are you inputting this through a remote or the keys on the projector? If its the remote try it via the projector to see if you have a faulty or incorrect remote. I havent looked at a 1271 in along time, is this the correct method of entering the service menu as per the service manual ?

You're not holding down the 'test' button long enough. Hold it down continuously until 'do you want to enter the serviceman mode' comes up.

I ran into a similar thing with my 1271. It stopped doing it after I reset the warmup time(white screen of death) to 0 minutes. I do not recall the steps to reset the warmup time but it's in the manual.

thanks guys. I did it using both the remote commander and the one on the projector, will try this holding it down longer tonight.

Thanks

Correct.. Make sure the STATUS is ON, and the machine is NOT displaying the white warmup. Then, hold TEST for 5-10 seconds.

To change the initiaization(white warmup) time, Hold the POWER ON button for 5 to 10 seconds while NOT on the whitescreen, and the change initialization time screen will appear.

If you press "page" the warmup screen stops, so you don't have to wait.
