I have a 12 year old 31" CRT TV that I do not plan to replace for a year or two. I plan to buy a DVD-R/VCR combo. I would like to use this with composite (rca) cables on the tv I have now and then use it to feed both dvd and vhs with a single HDMI cable latter. Will the Sony RDR VX555 or any of the others do this?

Also can any of them be used as a converter box. OTA digital to analog then to my current tv?:)

Thanks

Not sure about the Sony, but if it's upconverting(has HDMI out) and if it has a digital tuner built in(not a lot of Sony's do) it should work just fine. You will be able to use the tuner as a converter box for your older TV. Panasonic's current EZ-47 would also do what you want, but due to the inherent bugs of that unit I would advise against it. Panasonic will be coming out with a replacement EZ-48(I believe) it should also do what you want. No one knows yet if they've corrected any of the bugs found on the EZ-47.
