I have a Chief electronic mount and it works great. Every once in a while a used one pops up on EBay or on AVS sales for about $400 to $500 although I have not seen one on AVS for a while know.

You would also need the G90 HB bracket and possible a LPK1 Low-Profile Mounting Kit. They are a great company to deal with. I purchased my unit used and I still received full technical support when I called Chief for assistance.

Thank you one and all for the feedback.
Hunter, FH Video do have them in stock $450 plus shipping.
cinema mad, I will phone Steve monday
The mount that came with the G90, will fit but the base plate attaches to the outside adjuster holes and not the recomended mounting holes and I am concerned this might stress the bottom plate of the Projector.
Has anyone heard of mounting it this way.

Regards
Richard

By adjuster holes if you mean where the feet would go if the G90 was floor mounted than that is where the Chief HB bracket gets screwed into and I have had no issues with that method at all.

Richard,
I have a 1292 mount. I don't follow the Sony's, so I am not sure if that will work though.

Hi Frank a picture says a thousand words:)

Yep, the large flat piece looks like the Chief HB braket and appears to be the same one that I am using. The smaller piece looks like it is missisng the top part, if I recal correctly.

If you are really worried about safety then maybe wrap some chains around each of the four handles and secure the other side to your ceiling.

You can call Chief if you need more info. When I called them they said using the feet holes is not a problem.

Also if you are concerned about using the feet holes for mounting you could always drill extra holes in the mounting plate and mount throught the standard mounting holes.

I wouldn't be worried though, if it is a factory made mount I'm sure it has been load tested.

Richard, sorry I haven't got back to you sooner. My father has been rushed into hospital to have a heart bypass done.

I heard back from the previous mount owner - he said he used a seperate plate and attached directly onto that. He thinks he forgot to send the second plate. In any case, you should be able to make the mount function with the G90 without any issues. I would use secondary chains as well, just to be safe.

Good luck

Thats exactly what I am going to do, use the outside adj holes and also use the mounting holes around the center of gravity points.
I am not worried about it falling I am concerned with the design of where the adjusting feet are located, I don't want to damage the chasis.
250 lbs is a lot of weight.

Hey Richard,

Just thought I would mention I mounted my 1272 on a wheeled chassis running along two purpose built unistruts mounted to the ceiling joist enabling me to slide the 1272 and lock it into the desired position. Much like a bogie travelling on a track, only the track is unistrut and the wheeled chassis bolted to the 1272 travels along it.

I don't think there would be many members who have mounted their CRT this way, and the way I have mounted it, there is no way it's coming down...it would hold 4 G90s...no problem.

This alternative may work for you and if you're interested you are most welcome to come out and have a look, the same goes for any other Melburnian members, I will show you my electric 1.78 to 2.35 masking system as well, just send me a PM.

I am only 20 mins west of the Melbourne CBD taking either the Tulla or Western Ring Road.

Cheers Andrew....

Andy,

If you have a minute to take some pictures I'd really like to see that mount, and more importantly the electric masking system you build for your screen.

Sounds like a nice setup :)

I bought a G90 from Chuchuf (Terry Ferentinos) that he's holding to set up in my theater in June. It came with a ceiling mount that I don't need and I'll sell it to you for $250 plus shipping if you wish.

Alan

Hey Fellenz,

Here are pics of the masking system which basically mask from 1.78 to 2.35 CIW, using a garage roller door motor and remote control.

I can have more pics uploaded if you wish, but please feel free to ask any questions, or any other members for that matter and I will do my best to explain how my hair brain scheme actually works :D

My intention is to rip down the screen, start again with a Digital PJ using a 2.37 CIH with SMX, with masks on each side and flog off the Dali's and use M&K's behind the SMX,

Cheers AJ
