Hi all,

My trusty 1292 won't start up. It starts for about half a second, fans spin up and then shuts down. No errors codes are display except for a flicker 13 and C0 (?) together. Codes come up very quick though so don't know if they indicate genuine errors. Normally if you have a fault the codes will stay on. I'm perplexed. Any ideas? Has been very hot here in Adelaide. Had 12 days in a row over 35 degrees. Would it be a thermal shutdown with no error codes? I was watching a movie and could hear a slight fan chatter (this has happened before. I usually push a bit of neoprene here and there and the fan vibration chatter goes away.) So I turn off the projector. Tighten up the fans screws, push the neoprene type material that surrounds the main fans around and turn it back on. That's when it refuses to start up. Let it cool down for 15 minutes. Tried again. Same thing. Starts for 1/2 a second and then shuts down. Don't know what to do next.

Regards

Jonathan

Hi all, Please disregard this post as I just went back and the trusty 1292 has fired up again. Must have been too much heat around some components. Please delete thread or keep active for future reference to other CRT owners who might experience same fault.

Definitely.. I'd research those codes.. something is amiss and it will kick you in the butt at the wrong moment.. trust me. Do some research and definitely give the projector a thrice over.. theres nothing worse than when it actually goes down and DOESN'T come back.

I have a 3rd gen 1252 here.. soon to be a 1272. It sometimes doesn't start with an error 08- which I know the solution to..it WILL be fixed before it goes up in my room..

Your projector is saying "Fix me before I die PLEASE!" ;)

Yes, but wiggling stuff can cause problems as well. I think the best bet is to leave it alone until it fails again.

On the other hand, it's one way to keep a 1292 quiet... ;)

doing the right fan mod is the way to keep the big girl quiet.

In the next few week I will get a db reading from her.

I have had it moded by specboy for about 3 years now with no problems at all.

If just 1 fan is stuck or sticking at start up, it will shut down immediately.
How many hours on this machine?

Hi

I recently bought a 1292 sold as 'broken' (doesn't fire-up) with pristine tubes.
The problem here seems to be exactly the same, it starts for a split second and the display shows things like 1E and 02, meaning H-stop/V-stop and power down.
Sometimes 02 stays on the display when it has shut down.
I think the 1E fault is caused by the E board, on this board the fan doesn't run, of course I've tried to replace it by another working fan :)
Another problem is that I got it disassembled, I had to place the boards and wires myself and I maybe something did go wrong
Can someone post pictures of the connected cables on the E and DC board and also on the PS (PA and EA board)?
This could help me find out what the problem is, especially the E board.
Another problem could be the lens protection because my 1292 has normal HD10 lenses.
I have grounded the 3 lens wires because I think that is how the protection works.

Thanks

André
